Frame definability in finitely valued modal logics

چکیده

In this paper we study frame definability in finitely valued modal logics and establish two main results via suitable translations: (1) one cannot define more classes of frames than are already definable classical logic (cf. [27, Thm. 8]), (2) a large family exactly the same as (including based on finite Heyting MV-algebras, or even BL-algebras). way may observe, for example, that celebrated Goldblatt–Thomason theorem applies immediately to these logics. particular, obtain central result from [26] with much simpler proof answer open questions left paper. Moreover, proposed translations allow us determine computational complexity big class

Many-valued modal logics

Two families of many-valued modal logics are investigated. Semantically, one family is characterized using Kripke models that allow formulas to take values in a finite many-valued logic, at each possible world. The second family generalizes this to allow the accessibility relation between worlds also to be many-valued. Gentzen sequent calculi are given for both versions, and soundness and compl...

Existential definability of modal frame classes

A class of Kripke frames is called modally definable if there is a set of modal formulas such that the class consists exactly of frames on which every formula from that set is valid, i. e. globally true under any valuation. Here, existential definability of Kripke frame classes is defined analogously, by demanding that each formula from a defining set is satisfiable under any valuation. This is...

Many-Valued Modal Logics II

Suppose there are several experts, with some dominating others (expert A dominates expert B if B says something is true whenever A says it is). Suppose, further, that each of the experts has his or her own view of what is possible — in other words each of the experts has their own Kripke model in mind (subject, of course, to the dominance relation that may hold between experts). How will they a...

Non-finitely axiomatisable two-dimensional modal logics

We show the first examples of recursively enumerable (even decidable) two-dimensional products of finitely axiomatisable modal logics that are not finitely axiomatisable. In particular, we show that any axiomatisation of some bimodal logics that are determined by classes of product frames with linearly ordered first components must be infinite in two senses: It should contain infinitely many pr...
